Just some little tidbits about us and who we are. Vintage Treasures is just entering our 10th year of business and boy what an adventure it has been.
We are a small family run business out of Rockwall, TX. Myself along with my mother own and operate Vintage Treasures your on-line resource for all of your glass Christmas ornament needs. We operate completely on-line and have found that this is the best way for us to keep our prices low and pass the savings on to you.
Why glass Christmas ornaments? Well, I guess you could say that I became obsessed with them after living in Germany for 4 years. My husband bought me a set of blown glass vegetable ornaments. Not your traditional ornaments by any means but I just fell in love with them. Who do you know that puts a potato or a bell pepper on their tree? A couple of vegetable ornaments eventually turned into an entire tree filled with fruit and vegetable ornaments.
Once we moved back to Texas my mother and I dreamed up Vintage Treasures. We started very small by selling our ornaments at a local market once a month in Canton, TX. and from there it turned into selling on Ebay and eventually our website. Now once a year we travel to Germany to select beautiful and unique ornaments that we hope everyone will love as much as we do.
Please be sure to see our fun videos below about us attempting to blow glass on our last trip to Germany.

Have you ever wondered if glass ornaments were really mouth blown or if they were made by a machine? The answer is in our video. These skilled glass blowers go through years of training to be able to make free blown and molded glass ornaments.
On our recent trip to Germany we were given a chance to try blowing a glass ball which is one of the most popular Christmas ornaments. Sounds pretty easy...right? While the actual blowing was as easy as blowing a soap bubble, the real skill involves the ability to blow a glass ball in which the thickness of the glass is consistent throughout. Then you have to be able to blow the glass evenly so that it actually resembles a ball and not an egg....unless of course you were trying to blow an egg shape. For the most part my ornaments looked like a ball with a slight bend at the top.
After silvering the inside of my ornaments so that it was as reflective as a mirror, I carefully took my ornament that I was so proud of, and carefully went to wrap it in tissue paper and box it up for our long trip home. That is when I discovered that my glass blowing skills weren't up to par. My beautiful ornament shattered as I was wrapping it in tissue paper. The thickness of the glass...or should I say the lack of consistent thickness throughout the ornament left parts of the ball thinner than the tissue I was wrapping it in. I think I will leave the glass blowing to the experts.

We just returned from another trip to Germany. What an adventure. We received personal glass blowing lessons from glass blower Michael Haberland. The first two videos are Michelle and Linda's attempt at glass blowing. The third video is Michael Haberland creating a blown glass swan. He makes it look so easy. Watch how he free blows the head and neck to create the swan. A true master!
